If
you have been refused credit this could be for a number of
reasons. It could be because the information is incorrect
or you may just have too much credit outstanding already and
they think that you may not be able to take on any more debt.
The lender should give you a reason as to why your application
has been refused which credit reference agency they used to
come to that decision.
Your Credit Report will show things such as:
Are you registered on the Electoral Roll. If not then you
should contact your local Authority and get registered.
Has a Bankruptcy Order has been cleared or annulled and this
is not shown on your credit report, send a copy of the Order
of Discharge or Annulment to all Credit Reference Agencies
and ask for your report to be updated.
If you
have paid a County Court Judgment make sure it is marked as
cleared on your report. If it is not, contact the County Court
and obtain a Certificate of Satisfaction and all credit reference
agencies will be notified of the change within four weeks.
If you believe a judgment has been incorrectly registered,
contact the court in question.
If addresses
appear on your report with which you have no connection, contact
the companies who created the links and ask for the address
link to be deleted.
Do not
make any more applications for credit once you have been refused.
Each application will count as a search of your credit report.
Find out why your application was refused before making any
more applications.
